Samar Abdul-Mohsen Al Sultan: First Saudi Woman To Be Employed by Facebook

Samar Abdul-Mohsen Al Sultan

Getting a job at Facebook is an opportunity only one person in 10,000 may have, however, that rare opportunity was awarded to MA graduate, Samar Abdul-Mohsen Al-Sultan, who is the first Saudi Arabian to be employed by the global company, Facebook.

With the support of her father, she studied and attained her qualifications at the Trinity College in Dublin, which is internationally acclaimed and recognized as Ireland’s first university, and received her MSc in International Trade there.

Samar also runs her own online business, a furniture store called “The Furniture Element”, which piqued Facebook’s interest due to her strong experience with eCommerce.

Having also been offered an opportunity to work for Google, she opted for Facebook as she felt that the company relies on the natural strengths, creativity and work ethics of their employees.

After returning to Saudi Arabia from Ireland, Al Sultan explains that she had conducted nearly 7 interviews with more than one person via video calls and claims that it is by the grace of god that she was offered the position of an Account Manager at Facebook, dealing with small to medium-sized businesses.
