Third Bienalsur Exhibition Reveals Artistic Wonders at Saudi Contemporary Art Museum, Diriyah

The Bienalsur contemporary art exhibition, jointly organized by the Saudi Ministry of Culture and the National University of Tres de Febrero in Argentina, is for now temporarily located in the Saudi Arabia Museum of Contemporary Art in Jax, Diriyah, marking the third season of this mobile showcase of artistic ingenuity. Open until December 31, the exhibition, titled "Imagine: Fantasia, Dreams, Utopia," is a visual treat featuring the imaginative works of 26 artists from Saudi Arabia and beyond.

The principal aim of the exhibited artworks is to transform the observer's understanding of space by revealing new and surprising elements that shed light on creative and imaginative domains. Upon exploring the exhibition, visitors experience a journey that alternates between reality and fantasy, guided by the merging of creativity and fantasy in visually engaging installations.

Noteworthy among the exhibits is the participation of the King Saud University Museum, showcasing the Kingdom's natural and archaeological wonders, including the oldest palm tree, a colossal desert rose, and an array of plants and artifacts sourced from across Saudi Arabia. The Biosphere Project, a highlight of the exhibition, endeavors to raise awareness about Earth's fragility and the imperative to safeguard it. The project demonstrates a mutually beneficial arrangement in which the existence of each organism is reliant upon the survival of the others, by depicting the Earth as an ecosystem enclosed within sealed spheres.

The tasteful combination of Saudi and foreign art pieces provides an enthralling atmosphere that invites reflection and encourages guests to go beyond their usual limitations.

This edition of Bienalsur builds upon the historical milestone set in 2019 when Saudi Arabia became the first Middle Eastern country to host the exhibition at the National Museum in Riyadh. The 2021 iteration further expanded its reach, with installations at Jax District in Riyadh and Khuzam Palace in Jeddah, featuring the creative endeavors of more than 20 artists from five continents, including five artists representing Saudi Arabia.
