Saudi’s Ministry Of Tourism Has Just Appointed A New Major-League Executive

The kingdom’s Ministry of Tourism has just announced the appointment of Gloria Guevara Manzo for the role of Chief Special Advisor. Manzo is the former Mexican Secretary of Tourism and former CEO and president of the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC).

In her new role as a Chief Special Advisor to the Minister of Tourism, Manzo will apply her experience, that spans over two decades, in the public and private tourism sector, to help the kingdom strengthen international cooperation, improve the skills of those working in the sector, and support the ambitious tourism plans and large-scale investments that are being carried out to fall in line with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 plan.

The Minister of Tourism, Ahmad al-Khatib, asserted that the kingdom’s tourism sector has consistently seen an increase in prosperity since the launch of the National Tourism Strategy in September 2019.

The tourism sector significantly contributes to supporting growth and employment throughout the country and has been on plan with Vision 2030 under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman and Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman.

Gloria Guevara Manzo took to twitter to talk about her new position, how she is looking forward to executing her role and those that she will work with, and stated, “I am convinced that Minister Ahmed Al-Khatib will be very successful positioning the Kingdom as top tourism destination and creating 1 million jobs.”

In March 2020, the Ministry of Tourism launched an initiative entitled, “Your Future Tourism”, which had a goal to provide 100,000 job opportunities for Saudi citizens and nationals within the tourism sector by the end of this year, in line with Vision 2030’s strategy to develop human capital, and create over one million jobs by the end of 2030. Progressing further, the roles are to be offered to both Saudi men and women, who will receive relevant training and qualification programs, providing them with the required skills to support them in obtaining relevant jobs.

The “Your Future Tourism” campaign encompasses a variety of incentives, including an increase wages for two years, which will encourage young people to join the private sector, covering all the needs of the tourism sector and localizing jobs within the tourism sector.
