Ramy Youssef has been nominated for a Golden Globe Award, now in its 77th year, for his role in “Ramy,” a TV series on Hulu. This is the second year in a row that Youssef has been nominated for the prestigious award, and as the co-creator of “Ramy,” he will be competing in the Best Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy category.
“Ramy” is a comical TV show that depicts the life of a first generation Arab-Muslim-American in America, and the macroaggressions and stereotypes he faces in his day-to-day life. Following the roaring success of the first series, he had been nominated for a Golden Globe within the same category last year also.
Season two of the show sees Ramy explore his Muslim faith with the help of a new character who plays and imam called Sheik Ali, who is played by Oscar winning actor, Mahershala Ali. “Ramy” is up against actors such as Don Cheadle for his role in “Black Monday,” Nicholas Hoult in “The Great,” Jason Sudekis for “Ted Lasso,” and Eugene Levy for “Schitt’s Creek.”
