Dubai’s Ruler Plans For A COVID-19 Free Future

In an online discussion led by HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai’s ministers spoke about a national post-pandemic strategy.

The development plan implemented by Dubai’s leader will serve to boost the country’s economy across industries, both short-term and long-term, whilst aiding the medical sector in preparing for a COVID-19 free future.

On May 3rd, HH Sheikh Mohammed said in a statement, “Our national priorities need to be reviewed to cope with the post-Covid-19 world. Our financial and human resources need to be redirected to strengthen our medical, food and economic security through new programmes and projects. Preparation for the post-COVID-19 is the preparation for a new future that no one expected just months ago.”

Dubai’s leader also announced an emergency plan to be implemented for which the Ministry of Economy will oversee to manage the “productivity and competitiveness” of the UAE’s medical sector. Speaking about the new task force that will be managing this, Sheikh Mohammed stated, “New teams are required to work faster, more thoroughly and more responsively to the fast-changing daily developments.” The new team will also assess the effects of the current pandemic across other sectors within the UAE’s economy and create plans that will aid in overcoming such crises in the future.

“A whole new world is waiting for us and this new world needs new tools and new priorities. Our country will be ready and we will recover very soon,” added Sheikh Mohammed.
