Iftar For All: Saudi Arabia Provides Food Baskets For Muslims Around The World

Ramadan is all about giving back...

Dawah and Guidance, an initiative by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs has launched a global iftar project which provides meals for around 1 million people all over the world during Ramadan 2020.

In support of this generous project, ruler of Saudi Arabia, King Salman has approved funding of $1.3 million for Ramadan iftars across 18 countries. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, food baskets will be distributed, as opposed to communal iftar meals, to protect people from contracting the coronavirus.

Countries in which the Dawah and Guidance project is live include, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Argentina. In Buenos Aires, the Saudi Islamic Ministry, which is represented by the King Fahd Islamic Cultural Center,  has launched the initiative to worshippers there. Ali bin Awadah Al Shamrani, the director at the Argentinian King Fahd Islamic Cultural Center, stated that the program has targeted and reached over 4,000 people by distributing 400 food baskets to sustain the requirements of Muslim families during Ramadan.

The King Fahd Islamic Cultural Center in Sarajevo kicked off the program in the presence of Saudi Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina Hani bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Mominah. Dr. Mohammed bin Hassan Al-Sheikh, director of the center, announced that the iftar program would be launched in other Balkan countries, such as Croatia, Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia and Montenegro with a view to reach over 60,000 people.
