Saudi Arabia Announces Nationwide Curfew To Contain Coronavirus Pandemic

King Salman declared on Sunday a nationwide curfew across the Kingdom in an effort to slow down the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. The government-imposed curfew will start off on Monday evening and will last for 21 days, royal court statement by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

King Salman’s announcement followed the Health Ministry’s report on the latest numbers of coronavirus cases in the Kingdom: 119 new cases on Sunday amounting to a total of 511 cases in Saudi Arabia.

The order calls for citizens and residents to stay home during curfew hours for their own safety. The Ministry of Interior will undertake the necessary measures to make sure the curfew is fully implemented. The SPA statement also read that workers from vital industries and government services are exempt.
